The bobcat appeared to have been hit very hard, and was barely breathing. Not wanting to leave the animal in the road, we picked the bobcat up, put him in a plastic garbage bag and took him to the Lodge, laid the animal in the garage, turned out the lights and went to bed. Next morning, we heard loud crashing noises in the garage. Easing the walk-in door open from the house to the garage, we looked around cautiously and finally saw the Bobcat on one of the top shelves, looking very hurt and dazed, only able to open one eye. We couldn’t leave him in the garage for a week, so we thawed out two chicken breasts, cut them up and threw pieces to him. Chicken falling from the sky….a bobcat’s dream! He ate every piece and licked his whiskers. We opened the big garage door, he hesitated, then walked slowly out the driveway to freedom. We believe the hardy meal of chicken and his recovery time in the garage enabled him to hunt and again survive in the wild. How could we name our Lodge anything but……
